Summer Camp 2020: Here’s the Plan

  • ON-SITE
  • ONLINE
  • WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

On-Site: 3 Days. Unlimited Adventure.

We can’t wait to see you!

Monday, Wednesday and Friday, you’ll have the opportunity to come to our central Ohio campus for full days of high-adventure activities and high-adventure faith. From high ropes to the lake, Club and Mass to small group time, you won’t miss out on any part of the experience. Connection and content continue at home while we deep-clean the site on Tuesday and Thursday.

You can trust that when you’re here, you’re safe.
The leadership of our staff and nursing team at Damascus maintain regular communication with third-party safety advisors and local public health and safety authorities to create a safe space regardless of circumstances.  In light of Covid-19, know that our efforts have increased to include what we believe to be a thorough communicable disease plan.

How we keep you safe on site:
Modifications to standard operation in light of the Covid pandemic include, but are not limited to:
– implementation of staff and participant health pre-screening protocol
– modification to illness policy in-session
– enhanced cleaning standards for shared equipment
– modifications to food service to prevent the spread of illness
– staff instruction aimed toward increasing the effectiveness of personal hygiene and care
– site-wide access to additional hand washing locations
– programmatic focus on nutrition, hydration, and more sleep

The best of what we have to offer
There is simply no substitute for the incarnational reality of personal relationship.  This is what camp does best. And in light of the present atmosphere of social isolation, it’s what our kids need most.  This is why we’re willing to be flexible in our programming, time, and schedule in order to allow you a real, live experience at camp.

At-Home: Catholic Youth Summer Camp. No compromises.

The Catholic Youth Summer Camp you know and love.

Imagine bringing the joy, fun, and captivating faith of CYSC into your home.

From main-stage teachings and worship, to daily Prayer Labs, hilarious skits and awesome montages, no element will be left out. Live small group time throughout each day will allow campers to connect with their counselors here at Damascus for personalized faith formation. In combination with all of the materials from “the Box”, our staff will be with you every step of the way to provide everything you need for a week of engaging fun, community, and transformation in your own home (and/or backyard!).

What’s included?

The Box will be delivered to the home of every registered camper in the week before your session is scheduled to begin. The digital content will be delivered to your inbox shortly after, and you’ll be ready to go! Click here for a list of everything that you’ll receive, and check out a sample schedule for a week at home.

Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions.

When do I need to decide?

We’ll ask you to let us know by 1 week before your session how you plan to participate. If your session’s status has been updated, please check your email for information specific to your week and the form where you can indicate your decision.

If I choose the On-Site Option, do I have to come all 3 days?

To provide the greatest flexibility with your schedule, each On-Site Day is optional. You can indicate 1 week ahead which days you plan to be here. We’ll also ask you to check in the day before to confirm.

Will this be the format for every week of the summer? Can I switch to a later week?

We are not yet sure what the remainder of the summer will hold. If it is your preference to participate in a different week of camp for any reason, you will be able to transfer to any week of your choosing using the Session Transfer form below (deadline for transfers is 1 week before your session begins).

Parents: If I want to stay in the area while my child is at camp for an On-Site Day, what do you recommend?

Is financial aid available?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline for cancellation? Why is there a deadline?

As communicated by email and phone, the deadline for requesting a full refund for CYSC 2020 was May 15, 2020.

We believe that our plan for your “camp-in-a-box” combined with the option of being on-site at Damascus or engaged at home allows you, our camp families the greatest degree of flexibility possible in response to the particular needs your family may be facing, or the specific requirements that may be imposed by the state of Ohio in the coming months.  While the future looks bright, we want to put that freedom in your hands.

In order that we might accomplish the necessary steps associated with ordering and assembling packages for every camp family, and that we might appropriately commit to the staffing required to make this the best summer of Catholic Youth Summer Camp ever, a mid-May deadline for ordering was necessary.

What is the current status of my particular session?

Please see the section entitled “Session Updates” above for the most up-to-date status per session for Summer 2020.

How will I know what my options are for my individual session?

In order to maintain the greatest degree of flexibility, we will communicate specific details for each session directly to registered families at least 2 weeks from their opening date.

Other questions? Email registration@cysc.com.
